Tweets - This afternoon we hiked on the old railroad trail (the Snoqualmie
Valley Trail) from North Bend to Rattlesnake Lake.

The real excitement was a NORTHERN PYGMY-OWL right next to the trail about 1/3
of the way from North Bend. What a fabulous little bird -- a lifer for me and
my wife. Even cuter than our kitten (but don't tell her that).

We also had at least 2 PILEATED WOODPECKER, possibly nesting.

Many VARIED THRUSH, and a few RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS enlivened the afternoon.

Besides birds, we saw 3 DEER, and five species of plants in flower: Indian
Plum, Salmonberry, Colt's Foot, Skunk Cabbage, and 2 TRILLIUM.

All in all, a very fine walk.
