Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday May 2. If you have anything to add call Harry

A BLACK SKIMMER was reported April 24 from Coos Bay. Three GREAT-TAILED
GRACKLES are still being seen in Ontario. A possible male TENNESSEE
WARBLER was seen April 27 at the Astoria Airport Mitigation Area. Among
heavy movements off Boiler Bay during the week were up to three MANX
SHEARWATERS. Two FRANKLIN'S GULLS were there April 27.

The spring migration should peak during the next week. SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS, WESTERN KINGBIRDS, and an unexpectedly large number of
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were reported during the week. BLACK-NECKED
STILTS were reported during the week from Fern Ridge Reservoir, Ankeny
NWR, Baskett Slough NWR, and along Wireless Road south of Astoria. Single
BULLOCK'S ORIOLES were along the coast at yaquina Bay and at Astoria
April 28. A large flock of 1,150 BRANT were on Coos Bay April 26.

A SAGE THRASHER was at Steigerwald NWR April 25. On April 30 a POORWILL
was hit by a car at Minto-Brown Park in Salem. A SWAINSON'S HAWK and a
WILLET were along Farmer Road near Baskett Slough NWR April 26. On April
30 a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was at Baskett Slough NWR.

On April 28 a PALM WARBLER was at the Monmouth Sewage Ponds. A LOGGERHEAD
SHRIKE was at Detroit April 26. That day a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was near
Philomath. On May 1 a WHIMBREL was at Finley NWR. Four WHITE PELICANS are
now at Fern Ridge Reservoir. A BREWER'S SPARROW was in Eugene April 30.
On April 27 a hybrid CINNAMON/BLUE-WINGED TEAL was at the Kirtland Road
Sewage Ponds in the Rogue Valley.

A pair of LONG-TAILED DUCKS were at Hood River April 26. Another was on
Upper Klamath Lake April 28. Four FRANKLIN'S GULLS were at Lower Klamath
NWR April 26. A COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD was in Bend April 30.
