Woodland Park Zoo is celebrating International Migratory Bird Day somewhat differently this year, and a little later in the month. Following is an announcement of Morning Bird Walks to be held at the Zoo on the day of our "Festival for the Birds"

Exotic Bird Walk
Woodland Park Zoo

7:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Join Woodland Park Zoo staff as you tour and learn more about some of the zoo's exotic bird collection. As you visit the Swamp, Marsh, Conservation Aviary, and Tropical Rain Forest exhibits, we will seek out those migratory birds that use zoo grounds as a stopping point on their journey north. In addition, we will monitor the progress of the zoo's first-ever nesting pair of wild bald eagles, which have chosen a nest high in a fir tree in the Northern Trail's elk yard.

The tours begin at 7:00 a.m. and meet at the zoo's South Gate entry off of N. 50th St. and Fremont Ave. N. This bird walk is open to birding enthusiasts of all skill levels from novice to expert. Please come prepared with a pair of binoculars and comfortable walking shoes. This is a rain or shine event, so dress appropriately for the weather. Following your walk, stick around for the zoo's Festival for the Birds event held in the zoo's Family Farm from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
