Checked Ridgefield NWR again this evening from 4-6pm. Had a few new
migrants (Hammond's Flycatcher, and Western Tanager). Total species 68.

I always stop about 3 places in the woods heading down into the refuge.
Today there was a constant wind making some birds keep quiet like
Pacific-slope Flycatcher and Winter Wren which I know are there just not
talking.

Evergreen Woods:
Rufous Hummingbird
Hammond's Flycatcher
Red-breasted Nuthatch
2 Brown Creepers
1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet flock
Black-headed Grosbeak
2 Red Crossbills

Northern part of loop:
2 American Bittern (had 4 others in southern part of loop)
1 Trumpeter Swan (may be injured, odd it is sticking around this late)
Scrub Jay (usually don't get them here)

Photo Blind:
Osprey
Western Tanager (young male)
3 Yellow-headed Blackbirds
House Wren

Last pond to south of loop:
68 Dowitchers (heard Long-billed)
31 Least Sandpipers
1 Dunlin

Salmon Creek:
1 Great Egret

Birds not found today:
Most notable was the absence of Golden-crowned Sparrows which were there 2
days before. Also Could not relocate the Greater Scaup, Red-breasted
Sapsucker, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Hermit Thrush.

It's neat to see new birds come and leave and trying to understand the
complexities of migration.
