Hi Folks - saw this tidbit from WDFW, and thought that the E Washington
folks might be interested. I have yet to "tick" sage grouse or sharp-tails
on my State list.... sigh!!

Douglas County Lek Activity - District Biologist, Beau Patterson, surveyed
Douglas County sage and sharp-tailed grouse leks, including one morning with
Gordon Congdon, executive director of the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. Sage
grouse numbers are peaking on the leks now, with almost every lek showing
highest attendance to date. Aggregate high counts to date for Douglas
County tally 231 male sage grouse. This translates to a breeding population
of approximately 865 sage grouse in Douglas County (assuming Washington lek
attendance behavior and breeding population structure are comparable to
Colorado findings). (Matt Monda, Ephrata)
