BROWN PELICANS arrived at the estuary this week. Four
were seen yesterday from the observation deck at the the
South Jetty. Also seen there were many loons of the three
expected species (PACIFIC LOON flight at about 25.min),
SOOTY SHEARWATER, alternate plumage RED-NECKED GREBES
and BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES.

There are still impressive numbers of BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKES loafing among the CASPIAN TERNS on the
low tide flats at Trestle Bay. It would also appear
that BALD EAGLES are on the move. There were eight
visible from the wildlife bunker at parking lot "D"
and at least that many around Youngs Bay.

There are still at least 500 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
at Wireless Rd. MARBLED GODWITS, WHIMBREL and dowitchers
are still easy to find in the cow pastures there.
SOLITARY SANDPIPER was reported from flooded field along
Lewis and Clark Rd. A WESTERN KINGBIRD was seen near the
horse barn by Dick Matthews early last week.

A BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK was singing in the alders along
the linear park next to Warrenton Sewage Ponds this morning.
