I don't know if Gary Wiles will report this or not, but today (May 06, 2002)
the two of us had some good birds at Nisqually NWR in Olympia, WA. The
target birds were the SOLITARY SANDPIPERS that the Sullivans and Dave Hayden
had been seeing, they were on the new pond behind the Headquarters near the
willow thicket (where Dave had them). The winds were very strong elsewhere
on the refuge, but this area was relatively quiet...drawing other great
birds. A CASSIN'S VIREO was briefly singing in the willows, giving away his
location for good up-close looks at this species. Also here was the
Warbling Vireo that has been present for the week. Other highlights of the
day and previous week for me were:

1 Warbling Vireo
3 N. R/W Swallows
4 Yellow Warblers
6 EVENING GROSBEAKS (at hdqtrs parking lot)
