Sightings for May 7th

At Robert Lake in Kelowna, a BAIRD'S SANDPIPER was observed today (CC).

Thomson Brook Pond, located along Gordon Drive, S. of Mission Creek, had the
first LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER and BLUE-WINGED TEAL of the season (CC).

Two WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS were seen over the Dilworth Cliffs at the Kelowna
Cemetery (CC).

At Robert Lake, 17 AMERICAN AVOCETS were present, and at Alki Lake, 2
SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were seen on May 6th (HV).

Also on the 6th, a WESTERN KINGBIRD and a DUSKY FLYCATCHER were noted on
Poplar Point in Kelowna's North End (GW).

In Westbank, a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen in the flooded fields on
the S. side of the Rotary Trails Park, on Gellatly Road on May 6th (MF).


Sightings for May 5th

Spring arrivals today included a HERMIT THRUSH at the Kelowna Cemetery, 2
WESTERN SANDPIPERS at the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary, in Kelowna and a
WESTERN TANAGER at the Chichester Bird Sanctuary, also in Kelowna
(CC,DW,CS,SH).


Sightings for May 4th

The year's first PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were observed at Robert Lake in
Kelowna, where there were 9 of them today (DW).

The pond at the entrance to the Kelowna Landfill on Glenmore Road had 25
BONAPARTE'S GULLS (DW). BONAPARTE'S GULLS were also reported in good numbers
throughout the last week at the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary in Kelowna
(JL,MB,GW).

In Penticton a flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS were reported on May 3 (LN).

A WILSON'S PHALAROPE was at Robert Lake on May 1, as was the LONG-TAILED
DUCK (GW).

A major push of "MYRTLE" race YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were noted at both the
Chichester Bird Sanctuary and the Maude Roxby Bird Sanctuary in Kelowna on
May 1 (CC,GW).

At Mac's Lake, W. of Penticton, three SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were present on
April 30 (LN).
