Yesterday evening while looking for Bitterns at
Spencer Is, I saw what I believe to be a single
Whimbrel among several Dowitchers. Although I only
had my spare, cheap binoculars, the long beak was very
noticeably downturned. Also the telltale "stripe"
above the eye was seen. Yes I did see and hear a
Bittern too, but not as many or close as a week ago.
