Sightings for Wednesday, May 8th

At Robert Burnaby Park in Burnaby, a bird described as fitting the
description of a PAINTED REDSTART was seen. Any confirmation by other
observers is appreciated.

At Iona were a LONG-BILLED CURLEW in Iona Bay, a SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER
and 8 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS at the ponds and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR, 5 PARASITIC
JAEGERS and numerous COMMON TERNS from the south jetty.

Tuesday, May 7th

At Reifel Bird Sanctuary were a GREAT EGRET, a PEREGRINE FALCON, a
SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER and 4000 PACIFIC LOONS.

At Iona were a PECTORAL SANDPIPER and 8 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS at the ponds.
On the south jetty were thousands of COMMON TERNS, a HORNED LARK and a
LAPLAND LONGSPUR.

Out of town, in spite of an intensive search of the Hope Airport area,
there
was no sign of the RUSTIC BUNTING, last seen on May 4th. A LEWIS' WOODPECKER
was seen in the area.

In a late report from Reifel for May 6th, there were 13 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, a GREAT EGRET, 3 RING-NECKED DUCKS and a PEREGRINE
FALCON.

Monday, May 6th

At Cecil Green at UBC were a CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD, an ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, a
CASSIN'S FINCH, 4 WARBLING VIREOS, a CASSIN'S VIREO, a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW, an OSPREY and 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS.

At Blackie's Spit was a LONG-BILLED CURLEW. Nearby, at Crescent Beach were
3
MARBLED GODWITS. Also in Surrey were several BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS.

At Lower McKay Creek in North Vancouver were 2 GREEN HERONS nest building.
