Another backyard first for me. Yesterday 5 scrub jays flew into my backyard
to feast at my Spanish peanut feeder. Three left quickly and the other two
remained for about 10 minutes. I was surprised at their brilliant color and
their size. These birds were not starving. Goldfinch's have vacated after
having about 2 dozen for two weeks but the hummers are back for a full frenzy
sugar buzz marathon.
