Jim Pruske and I explored the valley area between Curtis and Wildwood
looking for new birding areas in Lewis County. We made a stop next to
Stillman Creek just south of Klaber and that's where we had 3 Whimbrel
fly directly over us, giving good views as they passed over heading
north. As we continued south, we decided to check out the small town of
Ryderwood. The folks in that town are the nicest people. A man gave us
permission to explore his property. We found a Hutton's Vireo there and
4 Black Tailed Deer. Another man gave us some birding tips to check out.
And we ran into one of the local birders, who gave us yet another place
to check. Without their tips, we would have never found those wonderful
places to bird.
On the way home near the end of the day, we made a quick stop at Scatter
Creek.
We also had a 4 bird nest day. We found a Red Breasted Sapsucker and
Rufous Hummingbird nest site in Ryderwood. We had a Robin's nest in
Boisfort, and we had a Bushtit's nest in Scatter Creek.
