If anybody wants to work on their Asotin Co. list or explore the far
southeastern corner of Washington!

I'm leading a Palouse Audubon field trip to Field Spring State Park (near
Anatone, WA) on 5/18-5/19. This is a forested knob on the eastern edge of
the Blue Mountains that sits above the Grand Rhonde River. Because of the
elevation range we should be able to see a wide variety of species in a
variety of habitats including riparian, canyon grassland, Douglas Fir, and
Ponderosa Pine. Some of the specialties possible include Williamson's
Sapsucker and White-headed Woodpecker. We will be staying at one of the
lodges in the park Saturday night and night birding for Flamulated Owls and
Common Poorwills.

If you are interested please let me know as soon as possible and I will
email more information on the accomodations. The cost will be $10-$20 per
person depending on the number of participants. Each person/group will be
responsible for their own food (there are cooking facilities) and will need
to bring a sleeping bag. I need to know within a day or 2 who is interested
so I can let WA State Parks folks know how many will be coming. (Sorry for
the late notice!)

thanks, Charles.
