The Am. Bitterns are back and have been heard several time during the past week now behind our house. The water levels are still fairly high for this time of year here so they are way back in the marsh. As summer progresses and the water levels drop, they may move closer to where the open water is now, giving us a better chance at actually seeing them. But for now their odd sounds in the eve. are a nice addition to the chorus of our backyard. I always look forward to their return.
