This coming Saturday, May 18th, is the Clallam County Migratory Bird
Count/Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society Birdathon. Please join us for a
great day of birding in Clallam County, from Diamond Point on the east to La
Push and Tatoosh Island on the west.

If anyone is interested in joining us, please contact me, Bob Boekelheide,
at my email address. I can send you a tally sheet, or you can just keep
track of what you see in the county, plus your time, mileage, and
transportation (vehicle, boat, walking, etc.), and send it to me via email.
Naturally, if you see a real good bird that needs confirmation, let us know
as soon as possible.

On Sunday, May 19th, at 7 PM, we're having a dessert potluck at the
Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, just west of Sequim,
to tally our preliminary results.

We have a great count, which we think might hold the record for the highest
number of species seen in one county of Washington in one day (193 species
in 1999). In the last 8 years we've seen a total of 228 species, so with
lots of counters in the right places on a good day we might push 200.
