Today I had this huge problem with the same cat for the last 3 months.
Today, I noticed this female mallard and her babies crossing all of our
yards. Immediately I panicked and looked for the cat that is always present.
None, so I waited for the female to cross the street and come into view and
sure enough, nothing. So I go out knowing something isn't right and there's
the cat with a duckling in its mouth and the female just going crazy. Both
my neighbors were out and my neighbor was nice enough to go across the
street with me and see if the owners were home, which he knew and went to
school with. The daughter was home only and she said to go ahead in the
backyard and look for the cat. I found 6 or so ducklings and brought them
back to mom. She started to call them as soon as they called for her. Turns
out that the cat is a cat dumped by some idiots who left it there after they
moved. I called one sheriffs office and they can't take cats nor do they
have the facilities (their animal control section that is). So I called a
shelter seeing if they did and they told me my city police department is the
one who brings in the strays for them. So I left a message for them to call
me back A.S.A.P and also called a cat shelter down the road. This cat is a
goner. It's not fair for it to have to go back to hunting for it to survive.
So hopefully it will get a home.
