Jim Pruske and I led a Black Hills Audubon trip consisting of 6
individuals up to Mt. St. Helens. We made stops at the Lewis County
Park, the Sediment Dam and wetland, the Weyehauser Forest Learning
Center, Coldwater Lake, the Hummocks Trail, Johnson Ridge, and the
Silver Lake Nature Trail/Sequest State Park. I would to thank those 6
individuals for helping us get 70 species for the day. Here are some of
the birds seen on our trip.

American Kestrel - 1 (south of Chehalis on I-5)

Lewis County Park:
Scrub Jay - 1
Green Backed Heron - 1
Yellow Warlber

East of Kid Valley on Hwy 505:
American Kestrel - 1
Red Breasted Sapsucker - 1

Sediment Dam/Wetland:
Band Tailed Pigeon - 2
Warbling Vireo - several
Black Throated Gray Warbler - several
Common Yellowthroat - 1
Pacific Slope Flycatcher - 1
Cedar Waxwing - 10
Spotted Sandpiper - several
Bald Eagle - 2 (with nest site)
Pileated Woodpecker - 1 (heard calling)
Turkey Vulture - 1

Forest Learning Center:
Western Meadowlark - 1 (heard)
Wilson's Warbler
Varied Thrush
Rufous Hummingbird
Elk - 150+

Hummocks Trail:
Common Snipe - many winnowing
Barrows Goldeneye - 1 pair

Turkey Vulture - 2 (at the Toutle River bridge and Hwy 505)

Wood Duck - 1 female

Red Breasted Sapsucker - 1 (flew in just before we left)
