I led a Birdathon trip around So. King County yesterday, for Rainier Audubon.
Lots of migrants around, especially at Lake Fenwick in Kent (a traditional
hotpsot) and at the undeveloped porton of Flaming Geyser State park, across
the river from the developed part.

The highlights were:

1 Western Kingbird at the "Whitney Bridge", adjacent to Whitney Park, east of
Auburn. This is only a 1/4 mile or so from the main entrance to Flaming
Geyser Pk. The Kingbird flew across the river and landed on the big
barn/house with the prominent Cliff Swallow colony on it.

5 Redheads at the Clay St Marsh near downtown Auburn. There were two males
and three females.

1 Semipalmated Sandpiper at a mud puddle on the Kent Boeing property. This is
across from the large pond on the NW corner of the property. Theis puddle is
rapidly drying up but has been very good for shorebirds this spring, with 4
plover species using it. It likely won't be there next year as the weeds will
probably fill it in.

1 pair of Marbled Murrelets at Dash Pt St. Pk.

By the end of the day our total seen was 101 species with only 3 shorebird
species and no owls (if only I had the energy for that....)
