Sunday, May 19, 2002, 10:30 a.m. This is Marv Breece. 206-634-1725. Just
received a report that a BROWN BOOBY was in Tacoma this morning, Sunday.
It was viewed from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. and was still there at 7:30. From
I-5, take 54th -- that's the Fife Exit -- to East-West Road. Take a
right on East-West Road, crossing Hylebos Creek. I guess East-West Road
becomes Marine View Drive. Stay on Marine View Drive until you come to
the Tyee II Marina, where there's a locked gate. And the bird can be
seen nearby from the Corinthian Boat Club. So if you can get into the
marina, that's great. If you can't, you can view it from the Corinthian
Boat Club. Apparently, the BROWN BOOBY was on the rigging of a boat
called The Discovery. And at this time, that's all I know. Thank you.

Saturday, May 18, 2002, 5:15 p.m. This is Barry Levine, 206-526-8676,
reporting on a trip taken today to the Stanwood Sewage Treatment Ponds.
Noted there were two species of PHALAROPE, one RED-NECKED PHALAROPE in
with a group of three WILSON'S PHALAROPES. And also seen were three
REDHEAD ducks. That's it. Good luck and good birding.

had a male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRD at my feeder in Redmond, Washington, and

Thursday, May 16, 2002, 6:49 p.m. Michael Preba. 206-623-7798. This
morning along the Everett Waterfront, about a half mile north of the
Everett Boat Launch, there were two pairs of PURPLE MARTINS exploring
nest boxes visible from Marine View Drive. About a half mile north of
that, there was a drake NORTHERN PINTAIL. At Legion Memorial Park in the
little arboretum, there was a small flock of RED CROSSBILLS. Thanks.

Thursday, May 16, 2002, 5:17 a.m. Hi, this is Tom Aversa, reporting on a
trip to the coast yesterday. There were smaller numbers of shorebirds at
Bottle Beach. Across the road, there was a PECTORAL SANDPIPER and a
LESSER YELLOWLEGS. Also a LONG-BILLED CURLEW there at the beach. At
Ocean Shores, from the jetty -- on the jetty were two BLACK
OYSTERCATCHERS. A lot of PACIFIC LOONS moving by. I counted about 1,200
in an hour. Also in Grays Harbor at the mouth, there was a virtual
blizzard of COMMON TERNS, presumably all COMMON. About 3,500 of them
pursued by quite a few PARASITIC JAEGERS -- difficult to estimate
numbers, but there seemed to be at least five.

Tuesday, May 14, 2002, 3:41 p. m. John O'Connell, 360-299-4375. At
approximately 11:45 a.m. at the Stanwood Sewage Treatment Ponds today,
there were five BLUE-WINGED TEAL, one SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, six
WESTERN SANDPIPERS, four LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, and eight WILSON'S
PHALAROPE. Thanks.

Sunday, May 12, 2002, 7:50 p.m. This is Russ Koppendrayer, 360-636-3245.
And today with numerous other people, I saw a HUDSONIAN GODWIT at Bottle
Beach. And also of interest on my way home here in Longview on Dike Road
in West Longview, there's a small wetland in a pasture that had eight
PECTORAL SANDPIPERS in it. That's it for now. Bye.
