A breeding plumaged HUDSONIAN GODWIT was at Texas Lake, Whitman Co WA on 11
May. This bird was observed by many people at very close distances, but was
not relocated the next day. Joe Lipar provided the following directions:
>From WA 23, either 12 miles west of St. John or 15 miles south of Sprague,
turn south on Wagner Road. Follow Wagner Road southwest about 2 miles to its
intersection with Texas Lake Road. Turn south and follow Texas Lake Road for
about 4.5 miles to its intersection with Jordan Knott Road. Texas Lake is at
this intersection. From the south, about 25 miles west of Colfax and 18
miles east of Washtucna, turn north off of WA 26 onto Lacrosse Airport Road.
Follow Lacrosse Airport Road through Lacrosse, where it becomes Winona South
Road and continues to the town of Winona. In Winona, turn west onto Endicott
West Road. Follow this west for 2 miles to Charles Jordan Road (this is the
southern half of Texas Lake Road). Turn north and follow this for about six
miles to its intersection with Jordan Knott Road. Texas Lake is at this
intersection. WA DeLorme 72, D-2.

The COMMON GRACKLE reported about 8 weeks ago near Yakima, Yakima Co WA by
Denny Granstrand is still present. To get to the spot from I-82 east of
Yakima, take the Nob Hill Blvd/Highway 24 exit off I-82. Go east about 2
miles, passing the K-Mart on the right with a traffic light at the highway.
The next traffic light will be Birchfield Road. Turn right and go south 1.3
miles to the little farm with corrals with llamas and horses. WA DeLorme 51,

The Genesee sewage ponds, just south of Genesee, Latah Co ID have been
productive the past 2 weeks. On 8 May was a single AMERICAN AVOCET and a
LESSER YELLOWLEGS. On 10 May were 5 AMERICAN AVOCETS and 5 BLACK-NECKED
STILTS. A ROSS'S GOOSE was present 10 May. Three LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were
present on 11 May, and yesterday, 19 May, 4 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were
present, along with 150 or so WILSON'S PHALAROPES. Thanks to Terry Gray and
Charles Swift for reporting. Take Cow Creek Road east from US 95 at milepost
329.8 and go about 0.25 mile to the pond. ID DeLorme 58, C-1.

A single EURASIAN COLLARED DOVE was in Othello, Adams Co WA on 8 May
according to Bob Flores. Seen in the alley at the corner of 9th and Spruce
streets, the bird did not persist. WA DeLorme 53, B-7.

A single MARBLED GODWIT was at Turnbull NWR near Cheney, Spokane Co WA on 8
May along the auto tour according to Marian Frobe. Take the Cheney-Plaza
Road south about 4 miles from Cheney to the refuge. WA DeLorme 72, A-4

GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS were reported on 5 May from south of Lewiston, Nez
Perce Co ID and on Moscow Mountain, Latah Co ID.

A GREAT EGRET was at Chief Timothy SP in Asotin Co WA on 10 May, and it made
the front page of the Lewiston Morning Tribune. Chief Timothy SP is west of
Clarkston along US 12.

On the Lochsa River in Idaho Co ID on 17 May, a male HARLEQUIN DUCK was in
the customary location at US 12 milepost 139, and 5 BLACK SWIFTS were above
Boulder Creek according to Keith and Marilyn Carlson.

An INDIGO BUNTING was seen and photographed in Yakima, Yakima Co WA on 18
May. It was visiting a feeder on Fair Avenue across from the Sundome, but
was not relocated.

Two PACIFIC LOONS were at the Walla Walla River Delta in western Walla Walla
Co WA on 19 May according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. The delta is near the
intersection of US 12 and US 730 and can be accessed 0.1 mile north of
Madame Dorian Park along US 12. There's a pull-out along US 12 at milepost
306.9 and a path to the delta. WA DeLorme 40, D-1

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was in Moscow, Latah Co ID today, 20 May according to
Charles Swift. The bird was near his house near Lincoln and Fifth.

A LEAST FLYCATCHER was singing near Wenatchee, Chelan Co WA today 20 May
according to Dave Beaudette. The bird was in the Wenatchee Confluence SP, at
the Horan Natural Area in willows across the trail from the "Hide and Seek"
interpretive station. WA DeLorme 67, A-6.
