Hey tweets, Stuart Mckay's sage thrasher was still at the Fill today, and
what a magnificent creature it is. I found it strutting along the grassy
path by the north side of the main pond. It was the boldest sage thrasher I
ever saw in my life. Usually when I see this species, it's the tail end
disappearing rapidly behind a sage bush, never to appear again. But this
guy went sashaying down the path like a model on the runway, stopping to
nip up the occasional bug. He knew I was watching too. At one point, he
turned sideways to give me the eye, than he went sauntering off. It was
great.

Other highlights: many more warblers than I've seen at the Fill for years:
Wilson's, yellow, yellow-rumped and orange-crowned. Cliff swallow numbers
are down seriously; so are house finches. Tree swallows, though, are hugely
populous. Also, quite a few warbling vireos. A beautiful day. - Connie,
