Hey Tweeters,
Last night was a gorgeous one, not even a wispy cloud in view and a
very nice gibbous moon. I looked through the scope at it continuously for an
hour starting at 11:05PM, before eye (and neck) strain prevailed. The birds
were split about 50/50 between headed due north and northwest, in addition to
2 confused birds headed due south (both of these appeared small and had quite
an undulant flight... finches?) Here are the birds I could detect:

39 passerine sp (more than 50% appeared to be medium-sized thrush-types, the
rest probably warblers)
1 peep sp
1 Am Bittern/Green Heron

I also heard the following:
1 Spotted Sandpiper
15+ Swainson Thrushes
2 Yellow Warbler-types
4 Orange-crowned Warbler-types
1 Wilson's Warbler

Last night's flight also left us with a Wilson's Warbler, 2 Warbling
Vireos, many Western Tanagers, and several Black-headed Grosbeaks seen so far
this morning. It's quite amazing how the Swainson's Thrushes can hide during
the day... They're the default bird during nocturnal migration, and yet I've
only seen them in the yard a couple of times. Good birding!

PS - A nice yard bird yesterday at about 1PM was a GOLDEN EAGLE which flew
over at a great altitude.
