Hello Tweeters,

I was surprised to learn from today's digest that posts pertaining to a
certain species of household pet and their predation of our feathered
friends is a no-no for this listserv. It's a topic I'm certainly
interested in, and have followed up with the original poster off-line.

As a service to those who ask about this topic sincerely, and to prevent
further irritation to those who are sensitive about its discussion on
Tweeters, couldn't a FAQ with appropriate links be put up on the Tweeters
site? People will always be interested in this topic, and putting up a
page to deal with it would cut down on posts, prevent friction, and
validate their concerns.

Although I don't agree with the guidelines as they are written for this
case, I respect that they are there and should be followed. I don't recall
if there's an introductory e-mail sent to new subscribers, or if this
guideline is explicitly stated there to set expectations up-front.

There's got to be a way to address this issue without offending the list
guidelines and raising a big controversy. Any other ideas on how this
could happen?
