Went to Sikes Lake in Carnation..saw:
american bittern
virginia rails(2) (our 1st)
sora(1)(our 1st)
cinnamon teal
sedge wren
Baltimore Oriole( in tree next to first lake(right hand) on road to Sikes
Lake...observed at 20 yards for 1+ minute..is this unusual here?..definately
not Bullock's) solid black head,
orange body, black wings with white barring..

bittern, rails and sora vocal...at bottom of this post are locations we
'finally'spotted them if you want to print and take along without peeking
first..(in case they are'nt vocal)(we thought we were 'skunked' when we first
arrived as none of these are immediately obvious.) Also, we parked 40 yards
from bridge and walked..

Thanks Mike!

bittern in left hand 'ditch' at 35+ yards
rail#1..left hand grass margin ..20 yards
rail#2..far left-hand end of bridge..5 feet off..8 feet down along
drainage..seemed o.k. with our presence...moving back and forth through grass
...great viewing..
sora..near bittern..behind grassy 'island' in water..
