Ken Knittle's WOS field trip today found a SNOWY PLOVER on the alkali mud
flats of the northernmost settling pond below the Iowa Beef stockyards in
west Walla Walla County. (See DeLorme page 40, C/D-1) From Hwy 12 drive
east on Dodd Road approx. 2 1/2 miles to abandoned Burlington Northern RR
right-of-way then drive southwest on right-of-way (tracks have been removed)
to first settling pond. Don't ignore "No Trespassing" signs - just search
with scope from the right-of-way. It really blends in on white mud flat.
