A first year male INDIGO BUNTING was seen today 25 May by Michael Dossett
and Scott Downes just south of the Potholes dam on the Columbia NWR in Grant
Co WA. To get to the site, take the refuge entrance south from the Potholes
Reservoir Dam (this is the auto tour route on the east end of the dam) and
go about 0.25 mile until you reach the first grove of trees that is right
next to the road on your right. WA DeLorme 53, A-6.

A SNOWY EGRET was first report 20 May along the Lower Crab Creek Road
between Corfu and the Grant/Adams county line. Randy Hill found the egret
1.2 miles east of Corfu. Bob Flores found the bird again on 24 May in the
same spot. Corfu is about 12 miles west of Othello. WA DeLorme 53, B-5.

The CLAY-COLORED SPARROW reported last time (20 May) spent another three
days in Moscow, Latah Co ID before moving on, according to Charles Swift.

Some good birds were at Mann Lake, Nez Perce Co ID this past week. On 21
May, Bryan Jamison reports 13 BONAPARTE'S GULLS in immature plumage, a
breeding plumaged FRANKLIN'S GULL, and a breeding plumaged MEW GULL. On 22
May Terry Gray saw 9 SANDERLINGS and 2 AMERICAN AVOCETS. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

The COMMON GRACKLE reported about 8 weeks ago near Yakima, Yakima Co WA by
Denny Granstrand is still present. To get to the spot from I-82 east of
Yakima, take the Nob Hill Blvd/Highway 24 exit off I-82. Go east about 2
miles, passing the K-Mart on the right with a traffic light at the highway.
The next traffic light will be Birchfield Road. Turn right at the light onto
Birchfield Road. Go .9 miles south. The road takes a curve to the right. The
grackle usually hangs out at the house on the right side of the road just
after the curve. It is frequently seen in the trees and bushes in front of
the house or in the corrals just south of the house. If not seen there, it
might be found on either side of the road for about 200 yards to the south.
Listen for its odd "song" that is a combination between high-pitched squeek
and whistle. WA DeLorme 51, D-5.

If you have any questions about birds on the report, call me before 9 pm at
208.883.0943. If you see any of the birds mentioned in this report, be sure
to let me know.

Good birding.
