Roland,
Here's directions to Sikes lake..
>From NB, go to Fall City. Take 203 to Carnation. A little past (~ a mile or
so) take a left on Carnation Farms Road. Cross the river and keep straight
past the Nestle plant. Take your first right hand turn which crosses Sikes
lake (a pond).
Re:Black-Headed Grosbeak..i don't really think so..he was 'flame orange' w/
solid
black head..not 'dull orange' and no light underparts..(I've seen plenty of
Bullock's ..same color)
...time to get a telephoto lens and get camera fixed (old Ricoh with a shutter
jam)
...(we even had to take a picture of our CNWR Snowy Egret(1st in refuge) with
a disposable camera..at 20 yards the egret appears about 1/2 inch
tall..hoping to get a blow-up
from the Refuge Biologist who confirmed and photographed.
...interesting thing about the sedge?wren is that the habitat is 'right',i.e.
"grassy marsh" per Peterson guide.
Cheers
