This evening there were around 35 Whimbrel resting on the log
rafts on the east side of Jetty Island.

Of the Osprey nests in the area, twenty-three now have females
incubating eggs and the first should be hatching in a week or
two. There are about another half dozen or so that look like
they might lay eggs but, at this point, have not.

About twenty Common Terns were fishing the area between Jetty
Island and Gedney (Hat) Island.

Also saw one pair of Purple Martins on the sunken barges north
of Jetty Island.

The city parks department will begin operating the free ferry
to Jetty Island on July 5th.
