Back to Sikes Lake yesterday..watched wren s'more...couldn't detect
definite crown streaking(sedge wren)..not vocal..(eye-stripe not distinct(as
in marsh)) Did some Google searching..learned there are 10 races of marsh
wren(so maybe this is a small,buffy race)..also below link to "contentious"
sighting in san francisco area..

...while straining to "see" crown streaking on the wren we were entertained by
the
antics of a virginia rail's two fuzzy black chicks as she raced about
'fetching' them tasty morsels..

"The standard Field Guides suggest that a streaked crown is diagnostic for
Sedge Wren but this photo demonstrates that is not necessarily true. Also
