Subject: too many at the Fill?

Hi Tweets,

I run a volunteer lake monitoring program in King County and on Saturday
June 8 I'm putting on a bird workshop at the Center for Urban Horticulture
for our volunteers to help them identify the birds around their lakes and
promote stewardship. I have two questions for tweeters:

1. I may have around 50 people coming to the workshop, from novices to
backyard birders. I'm planning to take them on birdwalks around the Fill
after the workshop -- around noon. My question is, what's the reasonable
carrying capacity of the Fill? If 5 groups of 10 people divide up and walk
around the Fill, assuming they're all courteous and respectful, will we
disturb the birds to the point of departure?

2. Currently I have myself, Kevin Li, and Neil Zimmerman to lead groups from
the workshop around the fill (we're presenting at the workshop as well). If
anyone else would be interested in introducing some very enthusiastic
novices to the joys of birding (and reducing the number of people per
group), I'd be most grateful for the help. Please reply off list of you're
interested.

Thanks and good birding!
