I got back the only two slides I took of the Gnatcatcher last Sunday at
Hardy Canyon (Wenas). I did not want to harass the bird (s) and there were
other people coming to look at it so I didn't want to interfere with their
sighting of it. The bird in my photos (one fuzzy) is definitely a male.
Either the lighting did weird things at the bird Glenn Teague and I saw in
the scope and made us think it was a female by the fact that it did not show
a dark line and that it's head was a solid lighter gray, or......... or
there still is (or was) a female out there. I wish I could have
photographed it and proved or disproved the female's existence but that is
not the case.
