Hi, I had a job that took me to Dillingham Alaska last week so
decided to check on the "big Bird". I talked to several who
thought they had seen it. None however were birders. One said he saw
it flying being chased by Ravens and he said the Ravens looked small
beside it. no one was sure but most thought it was a Stellers Sea
Eagle. Needless to say I never saw it. Most up there are amazed at
how far the story has gone, ( this morning in a call from my friend
in London, he said he had heard about it there)
Several thought that the original report came from people who
spent a bit to much time at the local watering hole.
Did see a few birds;
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Black-capped Chickadee
Gray Jay
Black-billed Magpie
Swan sp
Raven
Merlin
Canada Goose
Gulls sp
By the way the temp was in the 40,s and 50,s the whole time with
only one light frost last Sunday am.
