Hello Tweets,

Today my mother and I birded portions of Jefferson Co.,mainly in the
Ft.Flagler-Pt.Townsend region and encountered a few highlights with 10
species of shorebirds for the day among other notables. The weather was very
rewarding with NO wind and clear birding conditions, despite having a fairly
slow day of birding overall. Oak Bay County Park(accessed from Oak Bay Rd.
and S.R.116)was probably the most productive for birding overall with 6
species of shorebirds noted during outgoing tide conditions. The remainder
of the day was quite slow as mentioned, but we made the best of the day and
species in general seemed quite low in numbers within some species that we
normally encounter in higher numbers later in the season. Another highlight
of the day was a pair of adult Peregrine Falcons observed from the Hudson
Marina at Port Townsend that both pursued a flock of Sanderlings without any
luck before continuing on. We also observed a group of 5 Sea Otters at this
same location,as they caught fish and readily at them at close range. A list
of highlights noted at selected locations and times follows:
