Dear Tweeters,

On Saturday, Nov. 2, there was a White-throated Sparrow at the Samish "Y," where the signboards announce the entrance to Samish Island (Skagit County). There were a lot of Golden-crowned Sparrows with it.There was an American Robin there, too.

At Samish Island Public Beach and Picnic Area were lots of Horned and Western Grebes, hundreds of Mallards flying around in vees and trying not to get shot, four or five Harlequin Ducks, an Oldsquaw, and lots of Red-breasted Mergansers.

Along Etach Slough (between Hamilton and Lyman) were a Fox Sparrow and Lincoln's Sparrow. Several Varied Thrushes and an American Robin could be heard in the woods along the slough. Large flocks of American Crows, Icterines, and Starlings continue to commute back and forth in this area, feeding on stubblefields.

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
