I made my first trip to Leadbetter Point to do some shorebirding on Sunday
Nov 3rd ( I also brought some sunshine from the dry side of the state with
me). My timing was lousy and the tide was out so it wasn't the best day for
shorebirds. I did have lot's of Western Sandpipers and some Black-bellied
Plovers, but the bird of the day was a RUSTY BLACKBIRD just a few hundred
yards North of the viewing platform that is near the parking area. This bird
was actively feeding on something in the kelp and would allow you to get
pretty close. I viewed it for about twenty minutes and had time to do some
field sketches (term used very loosly).

Also had a Great Egret at Ft. Canby State Park on the pond. It was a
beautiful blue sky day over there and I will return again.
