The small ponds at Stanwood are gone for good, including the man-made marsh
which was so productive. (nesting marsh wrens, blackbirds and probably
song sparrows, and visiting sora, black tern, yellow-headed blackbird, etc.)

They are making way for a new sewage treatment plant. I am told that the
large pond will stay.
