Hi Randy,
I've been watching alarmingly large flocks of starlings at the south end of
downtown as I wait for my bus each evening. They're quite beautiful to
watch -- sometimes switching back and forth like a flock of peeps, sometimes
almost spiraling like the Portland swifts, sometimes even looking like a
cracked whip. When the form up in a column they seem to be about 50 storys
tall against the Columbia Center! I suspect you're seeing glimpses of the
same flocks.

Every night between five and six I see several large flocks of medium sized
birds swirling and dipping and swooping, as a group' in and around the
skyscrapers. I am on the 23rd floor and they swoop right by me. Perhaps they
are coming in the day and I don't notice because I am busy with people but I
suspect they are flying just at night. And very quickly. One minute you see
them, the next they are gone. Any ideas for me?
