Today, Sunday, Nov. 10th, I birded Pacific County with an eye toward leading a field trip there after the first of the year.

The drive was worth it (some 300 miles) and the Irish luck held on the weather. The only time it rained was when I was in the car.

It's not often I see more Loons than Cormorants, but it sure happened today. And I ate lunch watching an Egret and a GBH in a terf war in Nahcotta. First time I've seen these two species so close together (approx. 2 feet apart)

There was a mystery for me when I spotted an Eagle high in a tree on SR 107 just south of Montesano. He was near a nest so I stopped to watch. Just then a second Eagle flew in with a large stick for the nest. Why would they be nest building in November?

Great day for ducks and shorebirds around Willapa Bay. A total of 11 duck species and 7 shorebirds. Spotted a Semipalmated Plover in Bay Center and a dozen BB Plovers in Nahcotta.

Add in a nice mix of raptors, gulls, wrens, kinglets and sparrows, and to borrow a line from Marv Breece, It WAS a good day!
