Several good birds are in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID. On 3 Nov Bryan Jamison
reports 3 PACIFIC LOONS on the Clearwater River and a single GREAT EGRET at
Mann Lake. On 5 Nov a first-winter male SURF SCOTER was at Mann Lake
according to Charles Swift. Two LONG-TAILED DUCKS were on the Clearwater
River just east of the US 12 bridge according to Bryan Jamison. On 8 Nov,
Keith Carlson spied an EURASIAN WIGEON at Kiwanis Park along the Snake River
and refound 2 of the PACIFIC LOONS along the Clearwater River. On 9 Nov,
Keith added a ROSS'S GOOSE at Kiwanis Park. On 10 Nov, Charles found a
second-winter MEW GULL loafing on the rocks in the Clearwater River near the
US 95 weigh station east of Lewiston. And on 11 Nov, Keith reports 2 GREAT
EGRETS at Mann Lake. To get to Mann Lake from the north end of Lewiston,
follow US 12 south into town, cross the Clearwater River on Memorial Bridge
and immediately take the first left (east) toward East Lewiston. Turn left
(east) onto East Main Street and go about a half mile to the flashing yellow
lights. Turn right (south) onto Lapwai (a.k.a. Lindsay Creek) Road. When
the road forks stay right on Lindsay Creek Road (Nez Perce County Road 460)
and follow it about 5 miles to its terminus at Grelle Avenue. Turn left
(east) onto Grelle Avenue and just past the sharp right curve, turn left
(east) onto East Powers Avenue (a.k.a. Lapwai Road). Continue straight
(east) past the grain towers to the main parking lot of the lake. Kiwanis
Park is between Snake River Avenue and the Snake River, just south of the US
12 bridge between Lewiston and Clarkston. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

The BRANT reported in Wenatchee, Chelan Co WA on 8 Oct by Dave Beaudette is
persisting. Dave reports seeing the bird this past week. It was at the small
bay along the Columbia River at the south end of the Confluence State Park
and viewed from Walla Walla Point Park.

A LONG-TAILED DUCK was on the Othello, Adams Co WA sewage ponds on 9 Nov
according to Bob Flores.

On 10 Nov, 2 juvy THAYER'S GULLS and a first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL were near
Chelan Falls Park in Chelan Falls. Viewed from the north end of the park,
there is a large gravel bar on the Columbia River with many dead and dying
salmon in the vicinity. Chelan Falls is near the junction of US 97 and WA
150. WA DeLorme 84, B-1.
