This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Thursday November 14th, evening update,
sponsored in part by the Wild Birds Unlimited stores in Vancouver and North
Vancouver.

Sightings for November 14

At Beach Grove Lagoon in Tsawwassen were 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS. Also at this
location the BRANT numbers have climbed to 180.

November 13

Reported from the Terra Nova area of Richmond was a GREAT HORNED OWL.

Seen at the west end of River Rd. in Delta were 2 male EURASIAN WIGEON.

November 12

A ROCK SANDPIPER was seen at Lighthouse Marine Park in Point Roberts.

November 11

A mystery towhee like bird was reported along the Stanley Park Seawall
between 2nd & 3rd Beaches. This bird was also observed on Nov. 9. The
alert would appreciate further updates.

The 2 SNOW BUNTINGS and the LAPLAND LONGSPUR were again reported near the
3km mark on the Iona Jetty.

A MARBLED GODWIT was observed roosting on the outer pond at Iona.

November 10

Three BARN SWALLOWS were seen at the Reifel Refuge. Also reported from
Reifel were 3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS, 200 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, a
SHORT-EARED OWL and near the tower a SWAMP SPARROW.

A single BARN SWALLOW was observed near Garry Point in Richmond. This
location is just north of the Reifel Refuge.

An adult WESTERN GULL was seen in a roost NE of Hwy #10 & 96th in Delta.

Three RED KNOTS were seen amongst a flock of several hundred plovers in a
field near 33A 34th in Delta.

Seen along the Iona Jetty were 2 SNOW BUNTINGS and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR. On
the road in to Iona a SHORT-EARED OWL was seen.

A SNOW BUNTING and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR were also reported near the foot of
72nd at Boundary Bay along with 4 AMERICAN PIPITS and 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.
