Observed a white bodied Canada Goose in the Parker Horn arm of Moses Lake this afternoon. The goose has the typical black head with the white cheek patch and a black tail. The rest of the body is white. There is faint tannish gray barring at the end of some of the scapulars, but otherwise the bird is white. The white is kind of a 'dirty' white, not snow white, but white nonetheless.
Nearby was another goose that was definitely pied. This bird had the blotchy white patches that a typical pied bird shows. As with the former bird, the head was black and the tail was black, but the body feathers were blotched with white on the scapulars, flanks, and sides. Interesting birds.
The bird were observed from a small park and bike path called Neppell Landing. This small park is on the west side of downtown Moses Lake and borders the Parker Horn arm of the lake. Waterfowl have arrived and cover the lake here.
