I've also saw my first Varied Thrushes of the winter last week. Thursday and Friday, a male and female were foraging on the lawn together, or at least they were always in the vicinity of one another when I saw them. A mated pair? Do they stay together for the winter? Ehrlich et al. (Birder's Handbook) says their breeding biology is not well known.
