Subject: Red-shouldered Hawk near Vancouver Lake

Had an adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK this past Saturday at Vancouver Lake,
approximately 1/2 mile north of the park entrance. The bird was struggling
to fly west-east in the strong south wind, and was so close to the truck
that I could not focus with binos. There have been a great number of
sightings in metro Portland-Vancouver this fall, more than usual at places
other than Sauvie Island and the Ridgefield Auto Tour Route
