The current discussion about whether or not to include e-mail attachments
seems like a tempest in a teapot when compared to the many posters here who
either neglect or choose not to disable the html function on their e-mail.
Sending the same information in two formats that results in excessively long
messages is a gross waste of effort and download time; whether or not
attachments are included.

Today's short digest (# 3049) contains only 9 messages, 2 of which are in
both plain text and html. Each day contains one to several such messages,
often from the same individuals.

It is not my intention to try to antagonize or embarrass anyone who
communicates with this group. However, it seems insensitive for individuals
to continuously send html e-mails when specifically requested not to. Look
back a few days when Dan Victor repeated this request for the Nth time.

For anyone who does not know how to disable this function on Outlook Express
simply go to tool bar, select Tools, select Options, select Send, select
Mail Sending Format and click on Plain Text.
Simple enough.
