Hello Tweeters<
This is one exiting morning in our yard.Patrick and i worked all day yesterday in our yard this for making feeding and bathing so much more visible.It is not always chasing birds but also provide habitat and food for the birds.I live here in fircrest and it is a city all alone as the name says alot of firtrees .Around fircrest it used to be good habitat all over,with a lot;s of trees.What happen is we are an oasis for all this birds what stayed on the outscirts of fircrest.Making it short to explain we have a lot more birds than we ever had, because of lost habitat around us.
I this witnessed one of many Anna's Hummingbird slashed again around our birdbath.I got one of the sprays what hangs over the running birdbath and this is about the third time that i wittnessed this spectacular splashing on this bird.I also had again 5 Golden-crowned Kinglet going in to the birdbath and of couse there splashed also .Seeing all this birds today trying to get in to the action was something out.The Chickadees drinking right from the dripper.
So now all the leaves are picked up,we can put a mix of millet chickenscratch and cracked corn on the ground.We have good feeeders hanging but besides the finches all the birds feed on this mix on the ground.I have a special suet feeder hanging on the birch tree where we have the Red-breasted Supsacker appeared,so he returned twice since.The second birdbath is close by,but sofar he is not interested.We had both the Swainson's and Hermit Thrushes in the past went in to the birdbath what i created of three stepslike a water fall and it makes the water dripping from the top to almost to the ground.It is fenced of because we have cats from our neighbors and there sitting to watch and than strike.In the past i lost my only Golden crowned Kinglet watching it bathing when i saw a paw reaching from behind to get this bird.Al my screaming out of the window did nothing the cat walked of with this precious bird.This is when i builded a plastic fence around ,now the birds dont have to fear.I am looking for a smal firtree today for my patio,since we had our first TOWNSEND WARBLER yesterday,and again like always going on our suet and taking also some crushed nuts.Our Bewick's wren comes every day how many times?
I got photos of the BUSHTIT'S also going on the suet feeders,i was thinking this is realy rare since this birds dont visit feeders.I am always hoping that one RARE BIRD will come in to my yard,but the best bird sofar is the White striped white throaded Sparrow.Or if i can say a Turky Vulture was flying over our hause years ago.I kind of like the season's change to watch all my birds in the yard what are this importend than driving all the way to Oregon to see the Bloo-footed Booby.
O yes i forgot,i trying so hard to get a photo of the Anna's splshing in the water,but to this date i am always to late ,the bird flys of in to the Firtree.
