Tweets,
Birded some parts of Jefferson Co this morning, including Oak
Bay County Park, Fort Flagler SP and Mystery Bay SP. The tide was very high
this morning so most shorebirds were "high and dry". Oak Bay had 7 BB
Plovers, 3 Black Oystercatchers, 7 Dunlin, 14 Black Turnstones (all on the
jetty), 4 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 1 Brown Creeper,
3 Yellow-rumped Warbler (although others were heard), and the inner marsh had
about 75 Northern Pintail and 25 Buffleheads. Mystery Bay was quiet except
for a lone Cooper's Hawk which kept the smaller birds down. However, there
were 16 Eared Grebes and 4 Greater Yellowlegs. Flagler SP was windy but I
managed to get 15 Dunlin, 12 Brant, 1 Peregrine Falcon (Flagler lifer for
me), and offshore: Oldsquaw (18) Ducks were counted along with many
Harlequin Ducks, Common Goldeneye and Buffleheads. A flock of 18 Bushtits
worked the pines in the campground.
What a great day for birding............
