Alan Knue and I birded the Samish and Skagit Flats today, with the highlight being an adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK at approximately 2:15 p.m. at the Skagit Game Range headquarters. The bird was across the road from the pheasant cages at the entrance, and was actively calling. (That's how Alan and I found it.)

Also, with all the discussionof ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS on Tweeters of late, I thought I'd add that we saw 3 on the Samish Flats this morning: a light phase at several places around the east 90, another light phase along Sullivan Road, and a light phase adult male along Samish Island road, about ? mile before you drive onto Samish Island.
