Subject: Christmas Bird Count (CBC)

The Bellingham CBC Committee needs a few good birders to come forward
and
lend a hand. Specifically, there are three (3) territories in the count
circle that need party leaders and associated personnel to cover those
territories for the count on Sunday, 15 December. The territories and a
brief
description are as follows:

#16 A relatively large area
north
of B'ham with I-5 as a boundary on the west and south; an area
just
north of the Smith Rd. as the northern boundary; with the east
boundary running roughly parallel to the Guide and then jogging
over
to the Hannegan Rd, just south of the Kline Rd.

#19 This

area, generally speaking, is the crest of Alabama Hill and the lower

Alabama Hill neighborhood. I-5 is the boundary on the west; the area

boundary on the north is just north of Barkley Village; the east
boundary is
Dakin St.; the south boundary follows a line north of Whatcom
Creek,
including the fringes of Whatcom Falls Park and returns to the
interstate along Iowa St.

#20 This area is known as
"the
Airport," because the open expanse of the airport is right in the
middle of the territory. The Curtis Rd. is the west boundary; a
short
stretch of Slater Rd. takes you to the primary east boundary of I-5; the

east boundary then runs south just east of Bennett Drive to Marine
Drive, the
southern boundary.

If you are interested at all in
contributing to the effort, call me at 738-0641 or e-mail me at
<joemeche at aol.com>. I'll be happy to meet with you and address any
questions you might have about the territories. Our maps are
detailed
enough to guide you through the areas with no problem. I look
forward
to hearing from anyone who might be looking for an excuse to spend
the
day looking for birds. Thanks.
