A Trumpeter Swan was at Fisher's Pond on central Vashon Island today. From the
Vashon ferry dock head south to Bank Road (the first four-way stop and the
middle of "town") and turn right. Head west a little over a mile, Fisher's
Pond is on the right at the bottom of a steep hill. There is a pull-off with
two short trails to views of the pond at its center. The swan was in the
middle of the pond. The road gets a lot of traffic but otherwise the pond is
undisturbed, so the swan may stick around for awhile.

Nearby Tramp Harbor has several hundred wigeon, including at least two Eurasian
males, grebes, loons, scoters, goldeneye and mergansers and yesterday, briefly,
a Peregrine Falcon. Raab's Lagoon on Maury Island had a kestrel over the
weekend, now rare for the island, and a Lincoln's Sparrow which is regular at
this brushy location.
