Well, here in north Ballard ("Whittier Heights" to be specific) we have had
loads and loads of bushtits. We, too, have sunflower, thistle, and suet
feeders, in a backyard with nearly all native plantings and a pond with
water running down a small waterfall. We have seen only one pine siskin,
just recently, and no goldfinches yet. Lots of flickers. Even had a crow
picking away at the suet feeder last week.

All the birds seem to love the waterfall.

No starling problem since we eliminated most of the grass from our yard
and have stopped using mixed bird seeds.
